Professor Sylvia Thun is a physician and biomedical engineer. She heads the Core Unit eHealth and Interoperability at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH). Her work focuses on international IT standards, connecting medical information, and enabling the use of health data in clinical care and research. A particular focus is on interoperable data as the foundation for trustworthy artificial intelligence. She advocates for digital healthcare that puts data quality, sex and gender equity, and patient benefit at its centre.
