Managing Director, innovate! lab gGmbH

Biography
Martin Rahmel is Managing Director of innovate! lab gGmbH and Director of the “John Warner Center” in Berlin. Over the past six years, his work has contributed to building Europe’s leading ecosystem for science-based spinouts in Green Chemistry. Previously serving as Coordinator of greenCHEM – a €12 million initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space – Rahmel played a key role in developing founder-centric structures to accelerate innovation specifically in this deep-tech field across Berlin’s Universities. Today, innovate! lab gGmbH continues this mission as an entrepreneurial organization fully owned by the Berlin University Alliance (BUA), Germany’s only federally recognized Excellence Alliance. Funded by the Joachim Herz Foundation, the organization provides science-based founders with philanthropic funding, technical infrastructure, and a chemistry-specific validation program in cooperation with the Founder Institute. A trained industrial engineer with a specialization in technical chemistry, Rahmel is a serial “chempreneur”, a co-founder of multiple science-based chemistry ventures. Together with his team, he supports spinout and technology transfer teams that collectively form a chemistryspecific community of more than 50 startups. Beyond his professional work, Rahmel serves as chair of Fario e.V., a recognized environmental conservation association dedicated to river restoration and the reintroduction of Atlantic salmon in Germany. Across both his professional and personal commitments, one principle consistently guides his work: sustainability through innovation.
