Petersberg / Bonn. December 16, 2024. Last week, from December 10 to 12, the EUPD Group hosted the European Sustainability Week at the Steigenberger Icon Grandhotel & Spa on the Petersberg near Bonn. The topic of sustainability and all its aspects was the focus of the event. It brought the industry together to discuss environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to celebrate Europe’s leading organizations through various awards ceremonies in the context of sustainability.
The German and European sustainability industry came together for three days as part of the European Sustainability Week under the motto “Paths towards Reporting, Transparency & Innovation”. The summit offered a platform for exchange and discussion on the latest national and international sustainability developments with industry pioneers, expert councils and committees. On Tuesday, the focus was on corporate social sustainability: the Corporate Health Award, presented jointly with the Handelsblatt Media Group, honored the excellent health management of attractive employers for the 16th time in a row and raised awareness of the growing social relevance of sustainably promoting the health, satisfaction and performance of employees.
The ESG Summit on December 11 focused on the holistic ESG context, where Europe’s leading experts, including Prof. Dr. Anabel Ternès von Hattburg, Ralph Thurm, podcaster Zackes Brustik, EU Goodwill Ambassador Victoria Michaels and politicians from the European Parliament and various national governments, shared their engagements on a wide range of topics, opportunities and best practices. The Summit was accompanied by awards ceremonies for the ESG Transparency Award, the Energy Transition Award, the SolarProsumerAward and other processes that identified pioneers in their respective industries and made them accessible to the public.
The conference offered a platform for diverse perspectives on the ESG sector. Ralph Thurm, Managing Director at r3.0, agrees: “We’re really happy for the European Sustainability Week to invite us, to speak about regenerative and distributive economies, which is normally a topic that is not addressed at ESG Summits, and we applaud the organizers for giving us the opportunity to express our views about a regenerative and distributive economy and what it means in consequence, as we live in an age of collapse.”

The event concluded on Thursday with the intensive committee meetings of the expert advisory boards and specialist committees, which outlined forward-looking projects as leading representatives of their sectors. The European Sustainability Week brought together more than 50 speakers and hundreds of participants from all over Europe.
EUPD Group Founder and CEO Markus A.W. Hoehner reflects: “We are proud to have initiated a series of events that focus on promoting sustainability and ESG. Only when the best of the best gather with motivated corporate decision-makers and learn from each other can we ensure a future-proof, sustainable economy and society. The corporate sector plays one of the most important roles in the sustainability transformation – so it is important for us to play our part in creating valuable synergies.”

About the European Sustainability Week
The European Sustainability Week, organized by the EUPD Group, provides a unique platform to discuss the latest national and international sustainability developments with industry pioneers, expert councils and committees. On the second day of this year’s European Sustainability Week, the ESG Summit 2024 offered participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge, make valuable contacts and learn from industry leaders. From inspiring keynotes to interactive panel discussions, they were able to exchange ideas with like-minded people and work together to find ways to drive reporting, transparency and innovation in their companies. A particular highlight this year was the exhibition area for solution providers, where participating companies were able to find out about innovative approaches and products in the field of sustainability.
